The best laptop to run Windows 7 on, a MacBook Pro

As a Macintosh fanboy I can’t understand running Windows 7 natively on a MacBook Pro, so I decided to try to install it and see the complications of installing, the steps that were involved getting the OS up and running and what the drivers were like. The first thing I noticed is that unlike other laptops Windows was very picky about how it gets installed on a MacBook. The laptop being used was a 2008 MacBook Pro 17 inch. First Boot Camp didn’t allow me to make a USB thumb drive install of Windows 7 without a little bit of hacking. Secondly the older MacBook Pro would not boot the Windows 7 ISO burned to a DVD RW and I didn’t have any DVD – R. Thirdly it wouldn’t boot from the Windows 7 USB drive. I had to get very creative to get windows installed on this MacBook. In a nutshell I had to use VMware fusion to Raw disk mount (RDM) the Boot Camp partition. I had to actually install Windows ISO through VMware on to the RDM drive. Upon the first reboot I got an error saying no operating system found. This was very frustrating but at least it was trying to mount and boot off of the Windows partition. Having seen that the OS would boot off of this partition I decided to Install in NTFS drivers on the Mac and copy the files from the Windows 7 ISO files to the hard drive. This allowed me to boot Windows 7 installer from the hard drive. Once that was successful I was able to run Windows 7 installer, install it to the same partition the Windows 7 installer files were on […]

IOS 7 the good the bad the ugly

With iOS coming out everybody is excited. There is some talk amongst the markets that the OS is a little worse than the previous but many people love it. I personally got to put my hands on it this week. First I love the new look, it’s very curvy, transparent and sexy. My first thought when seen the new screen was that it was really sharp and brilliant. I find that the text was a little small but you can increase it to bold in the settings and it makes it a lot like the previous OS text. There are some talk that it is not jailbroken yet, so a lot of people have it move to iOS 7 for the iPhone 5 and 4S. I’m to be included in that crowd.
